POLARSTERNROHR alpha UMi – zwei astrale Skulpturen

Das Sichtrohr ist genau auf den Polarstern gerichtet. Von der Erde ausgesehen ist er der einzige Fixpunkt im Universum. Der Polarstern, auch „Alpha UMi“ genannt, markiert die Verlängerung der Erdachse, um die sich alles dreht. Er steht immer im Rohr – tagsüber theoretisch, nachts tatsächlich. Für einen Moment dreht sich das Universum um den Betrachter.

Polaris marks the extension into outer space of the axis of the Earth‘s rotation. Seen from the Earth, it is the sole point in the universe that appears to remain stationary. The star is perpetually visible at the centre of the tube, theoretically during the daytime, and actually during the nighttime. This simple tube directs our view toward the point in the universe around which everything seems to turn.

Un tube simple est placé exactement vers l’étoile Polaire. C’est le seul point d’univers qui ne bouge pas dans notre point de vue terrestre. Donc tout tourne autour de cette étoile. Pour un moment on se sent comme nombril du monde et tout tourne autour de soi.
